Calculating your body mass index (BMI) is one way of trying to work out whether you are within a healthy weight range. Because children are still growing, the BMI calculator on this website is just for adults and should not be used for children.

To use the BMI calculator, you need to know:

  • Your weight in kilograms to the first decimal place (e.g. 86.4)
  • Your height in centimeters (e.g. 172).

To use this BMI calculator, enter your weight and height, and your BMI will be calculated for you. If you register with the Healthy Weight Guide website, this information will be stored on the site so you can come back later and track any changes online.

It is important to remember that BMI may not be an applicable measure for all people including those under 18, pregnant women, people with higher than normal levels of lean body tissue, and people from other ethnic backgrounds. You can find out whether BMI applies to you.

If you are already registered with this website, you can view your previous BMI results.
