Activities include: information resources; healthy lifestyle programs, telephone coaching services and cooking skills programs; plus guidelines and advocacy resources to create supportive environments for healthy eating and physical activity. 

Information and resources

The Healthier Queensland website has a wide range of information and resources on healthy living, conditions and treatments, and health services. 

The Healthy Eating website provides a wide range of information about healthy eating, including resources such as fact sheets and where to go if you need further advice.

The Breastfeeding website has a wide range of information and resources on breastfeeding.

Healthy lifestyle programs and coaching services

Get Healthy Information and Coaching Service provides individually tailored telephone coaching sessions to achieve or maintain a healthy weight.

10.000 Steps encourages the use of step-counting pedometers to monitor your daily physical activity levels.  

Lighten Up to a Healthy Lifestyle Program is a group-based healthy lifestyle program for adults who want to improve their health.

Cooking skills programs

At the Ministry of Food Centre and Mobile Food Kitchen participants learn through practical hands-on cooking classes that demonstrate how easy and cheap it can be to make simple and nutritious meals from scratch.

The Need for Feed high school cooking program is available for students in years 7 to 10 in both public and private schools across Queensland.

Creating supportive environments

Active Healthy Communities is a resource package for local government to create supportive environments for physical activity and healthy eating.

Food for Sport guidelines and supporting resources aim to increase the supply of healthy food and drink in Queensland sporting clubs.

Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools is all about offering healthy food and drink choices to students in Queensland schools.

Smart Moves – Physical Activity Programs in Queensland State Schools aims to increase student participation in physical activity and to improve the quality of that activity.

PANOSH (Physical Activity And Nutrition Outside School Hours) aims to improve the nutrition and physical activity levels of Queensland children attending outside school hours care through the provision of customised information, training and support for outside school hours care services.

A Better Choice Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Health Facilities aims to increase the availability of healthier foods and drinks to Queensland Health staff, visitors and the general public.
